The CGMS WGIII 9th Risk Assessment Workshop will be held virtually on 24-26 February 2027, 12:00-15:00 (UTC) daily.
Objectives
The overall objective of this annual workshop is to perform the CGMS risk assessment and to review and update the CGMS baseline as necessary.
The specific key objectives of the workshop are to:
- Consider the latest WMO gap analysis and any impact on the CGMS baseline;
- Perform the annual CGMS risk assessment;
- Review and update the CGMS baseline for recommendation to plenary;
- Identify contingency actions as necessary;
- Prepare for the CGMS-55 WGIII meeting including action review.
We will also address risks related to the potential gap in Earth radiation budget observations and to the potential loss of low-inclination radio occultation observations in the next decade following the end of life of the COSMIC-2 mission.
Participation
Participation to this workshop is on invitation only and for representatives from all CGMS members (CGMS space agencies, WMO and IOC-UNESCO), typically
coinciding with the CGMS WGIII participation.
