International Ocean Colour Science Meeting (IOCS) 2017

The 2017 International Ocean Colour Science meeting (IOCS -2017) will take place from 15 to 18 May 2017 in Lisbon, Portugal, convened by the IOCCG in partnership with, and thanks to sponsorship from, EUMETSAT, ESA, the European Commission and NASA. The meeting will be followed by a one-day training session on 19 May 2017, with several training events being offered by various organisations. The registration for IOCS-2017 will commence early January 2017. The overarching theme of IOCS-2017 is “Exploring New Capabilities for Global Ocean Colour Observations”. The meeting will include invited keynote speakers, breakout workshops, town hall sessions and a large emphasis on poster presentations for participants to present their own research. The breakout workshops will complement the formal scientific program, and will provide an opportunity for extended dialogue and exchange of ideas with international colleagues. We would like to hear your ideas for the breakout workshops – proposals are now being accepted and can be submitted at http://iocs.ioccg.org/program/breakout-workshops/. These breakout workshops will address current critical issues in ocean colour science and will include group discussions resulting in constructive feedback for the space agencies. The deadline for submitting breakout workshop proposals is 30 November 2016. Information about the scientific programme, student scholarships and venue will be posted on the IOCS-2017 meeting web site in the near future.
