Meteosat-8 drifting towards 41.5 degrees East

Meteosat-8 started its drift towards 41.5°E early July 2016, with the drift phase planned to last until late September 2016.

Once arrived, the distribution of IODC Meteosat-8 data is planned to start on 4 October 2016 (in parallel to Meteosat-7 data). Meteosat-8 will eventually replace Meteosat-7 in the first quarter of 2017 at which stage Meteosat-7 will be moved to its graveyard orbit.
